Speculation about it was bound to happen. I want to see everyone's opinions on it, so it it could be hotlisted-- do we really believe that it will happen. Will the Mayan 2012 calendar prove correct and both Palin and Beck will occupy the White House.
The rally yesterday was certainly a show of force, and it is not simply dismaissible. Over 100,000 people showed up and a lot of them had something to say. The semi-religious rally was certainly something.
A few sources for you. One: Newsweek even jumped into the fray but their article is relatively bland.
And these rather amorphous ideas were each accompanied by a video montage, with Beck's voice-over narration set to images of the American Revolution, Abraham Lincoln, and King's speech. The rest of the commentator's almost hourlong sermon was packed with lofty, if seemingly rote, buzzwords like "justice," "liberty," and "honor." With the host and his devotees avoiding saying or doing anything controversial, the entire program was likely agreeable to virtually anyone watching at home.
Second is from the right-o-sphere. According to one blog, the things he's been doing just appear to be adding up.
Beck's 9.12 rally last year garnered over 250,000 people to come to the Capitol Mall last year and created a large amount of media coverage. It was this event, along with Beck's addition to the FoxNews lineup that made him a household name outside of the talk radio circuit. This year's Bold Fresh tour with fellow Fox host Bill O'Reilly has seen (or will soon see) Beck travel to various political battlegrounds such as Ohio, Virginia, Louisiana, Florida, and Missouri. In fact, five of the eleven stops will be in states that will be in play in 2012. Beck has also done what no other conservative host has done, going on comedy tours annually. This last year he stopped in Denver and Pheonix, epicenters of demographic and political shifts.
...
The question must be asked why Beck, and not other conservative hosts like Limbaugh, Savage, and Levin, is creating a grassroots network of support mirroring the Tea Party. Presumably, the Tea Party would be difficult to sustain without a cadre of leadership and a Palin-Beck axis appears to be the most visible approximation of that.
So consider it a question for everyone out there. If possible, I want to hear what you think about three things.
- Will it happen?
- Strange, but should it happen?
- What would the results be?
I want to hear from the whole community, so if it was hotlisted it would be much appreciated.
